On the State of Using Analysis in Aero Design: Some Thoughts, Observations and Suggestions
Bob Haimes
Principal Research Engineer
Aerospace Computational Design Laboratory
Dept. of Aeronautics and Astronautics
MIT

This talk discusses the current state of the multi-fidelity Aero design process
with the focus on geometry generation and its use in multidisciplinary Analysis.
A couple of software systems (CAPRI & ESP) have been generated by the author to
assist in this endeavor. But, continuing observations leads one to believe that
the design process is far from streamlined, automatic and where resources
(engineers, designers, computers and time) are not well utilized. The presentation
concludes with disruptive suggestions that may assist in correcting this situation.
