ABSTRACT:  Even when research or engineering work is groundbreaking, its impact can be limited when the findings are not communicated well. In this talk, we explore strategies for more effective visual communication, focusing on the design of slides and graphs/illustrations. This will be mostly an introductory talk, reviewing the work by experts in the field of communication and information design, while also showing some examples.
